How to Interview Like a Journalist
How to Interview Like a Journalist
Interviewing someone seems to be an easy task but believe me, it’s not. Taking an interviewing of someone is same difficult as giving your final exam in school, these two things are very much alike as in both cases, we prepare, we have one chance, we want to do best in it, and we learn from them. As Jory MacKay describes in his blog-” How to interview like a journalist (no matter what your job is)”.
In his blog, he wrote about the proper way to prepare before taking someone’s interview and make us familiar with two important terms like persistent and preparation. He also told us about the types of question we should ask and finally, non-verbal clues like body language.
Body language, while interviewing someone is one of the most significant factors to be considered to have a proper interview. It is important because it shows how we feel while we are questioning someone as Jory said in his blog about the importance of body language –“So much of what someone is telling you to go beyond the words themselves and being blissfully unaware of those signs can ruin all of the hard work you’ve already put in” (General Interest, April 6, 2015, Jory MacKay). So, as Jory described it makes a clear observation to the interviewee that whether we are confident about what we are asking him? or whether we are fully prepared for this interview? or they want us to end this conversation? or they are interested in our questioning as same as we do? and this makes vivid to interviewee about us and our interpretation about our question.
